We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Sales Assistant to join our dynamic Mass Merch team! In this role, you will provide essential support to our sales team, playing a key part in achieving and exceeding our sales goals. You will also be responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with our customers and key internal partners. Your organizational skills and proactive approach will be vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our sales activities and contributing to our continued growth and success. This role will primarily focus on the Children’s and Young Adult business, with some crossover into the adult category. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, motivated, and passionate about children’s literature.

This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in our Naperville, IL office.  This a non-exempt, hourly position at $21.16/hourly.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the department in day-to-day sales operations.
  • Act as a communication liaison between sales/marketing, sales/editorial, and sales/production teams for materials.
  • Create mockups of materials and send sample products to customers as needed for both Adult and Children’s/YA Categories.
  • Assist Account Managers in preparing for customer meetings such as creating presentation materials via PowerPoint or PDF Creator.
  • Assist with Adult Quarterly Line Review Materials.
  • Manage both internal and external title data entry and update title changes as needed.
  • Create and monitor requests for sales and marketing materials.
  • Attend Sourcebooks companywide meetings, internal sales conferences, and editorial presentations.
  • Attend customer line reviews and retailer presentations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of all assistance and support requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned for both Adult and Children’s/YA categories.
What you bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a sales assistant role.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with an eye for detail, adept at managing multiple tasks daily.
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset, passionate about books and contributing to team success.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a positive approach to problem solving
  • Genuine passion for children's and young adult books
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with industry-specific tools and platforms such as Power BI, FileMaker, FileShare, Dropbox, NPD, Edelweiss is a plus.
  • Must love books!
