Manager/Supervisor
We’re looking for a goal-focused, results-driven Development Manager to lead our development team. This role combines strong project management discipline, business analysis skills, and people leadership to ensure our internal tools, automations, and workflows are delivered consistently and effectively.

You’ll oversee day-to-day operations, manage project intake and scoping, assign workloads, and keep business stakeholders aligned with plans and delivery. You’ll build structure, clarity, and accountability across the internal development vertical so projects move forward predictably and nothing falls through the cracks.

This position can be hybrid in Naperville, Illinois or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: AZ, CT, IL, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, NJ, NY, NV, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA, AND WI. Occasional in-person meetings may be required.

The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $110,000/annually.  We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.  

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and coach a team of internal developers and specialists, providing clear expectations, regular feedback, and ongoing support.
  • Take ownership of task assignments, ensuring balanced workloads and adherence to schedules.
  • Build a culture of urgency, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews; address performance challenges proactively.
  • Provide cross-training opportunities to develop staff skills and ensure coverage.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing processes as needed.
  • Serve as the central intake point for internal development requests and ensure requests are clearly defined before work begins.
  • Rapidly assess, clarify, and prioritize incoming requests in partnership with leadership.
  • Define MVPs and project scope in collaboration with stakeholders, capturing detailed requirements and user impacts.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable, well-structured tasks for developers.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a management, team lead, or project leadership role.
  • Proven leadership style characterized by urgency, ownership, and a drive for strong outcomes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Outstanding follow-up and communication habits, ensuring clarity, accountability, and timely progress.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Monday.com.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Technical fluency in Azure, APIs, SQL/MySQL, and scripting concepts (no regular coding expected).
  • Experience implementing process improvements and enhancing workflows.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement and internal customer success.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Azure, SAP, APIs, FileMaker, EDI processes, and/or Smartsheet integrations.
  • Background in publishing, distribution, or business operations support.
  • Experience implementing intake, documentation, or governance frameworks.
  • Formal project management certification (PMP, Scrum Master, etc.) a plus.
