Sourcebooks, home to the top romance imprints in the U.S.—Bloom Books and Casablanca—is looking for a Marketing Assistant to join our award-winning marketing team at our headquarters in Naperville, Illinois.

If you're passionate about storytelling, fandoms, and creating irresistible campaigns that connect readers with unforgettable love stories, this role is your chance to get in on the action. You’ll support key marketing initiatives, from digital strategy and social media content to influencer mailings and event prep—all in support of some of today’s biggest names in romance fiction.

This is a hands-on, in-person role based at our Naperville, IL office, where you’ll work five days a week to support daily marketing operations, physically pack influencer boxes and mailings, and organize promotional materials. It offers a front-row seat to how bestselling romance books are launched and celebrated, all while being part of a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and creative team shaping the future of romance publishing.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position based in Naperville, IL. The starting pay for this role is $21.16/hour, and compensation is determined based on geographic location, experience, and other relevant factors. Regular travel is required for key industry events and festivals throughout the year.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to/Support Marketing Campaigns: Support the development and implementation of digital, social media, and influencer campaigns for Bloom Books and Casablanca titles.
  • Create and Manage Content: Design visuals, draft creative copy, and engage readers across platforms to grow community presence and reader enthusiasm.
  • Coordinate Influencer Outreach: Assemble and ship influencer mailings, maintain contact databases, and help grow our influencer program with fresh ideas and strategic execution.
  • Support Events & Author Promotions: Assist in planning and executing author events, book festivals, and industry conferences—including logistics, materials, and onsite support.
  • Provide Operational Support: Maintain promotional inventory, track marketing activities, and contribute to cross-functional team efforts as needed.

What You Bring:
  • A genuine love for romance books and the fandoms that surround them.
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills with an eye for compelling, on-trend content.
  • Experience using consumer design tools like Canva (HTML and graphic design skills a plus).
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • A self-starter attitude with creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm for working in a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility, a willingness to travel for events, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Industry experience a plus.
  • Must love books!
