We are seeking an innovative and highly strategic Director of Retail Marketing and Creative Services to lead the development and execution of marketing initiatives for Sourcebooks' retail customers. This individual will manage and mentor staff, drive marketing campaigns for our bookstore and library customers, oversee national trade shows and author events, and support sales through impactful materials. This is an exciting opportunity to join a creative team that prides itself on being best in class for our B2B customers!
This an exempt salaried position with a range of $90,000 – 100,000. We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.
This position can be hybrid in Naperville or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. Occasional travel to trade shows, training opportunities, and author events is required.

What You’ll Do:
- Supervise and mentor both the retail marketing and creative services teams.
- Provide the strategic vision for retail marketing and creative design initiatives across all imprints.
- Develop and execute national and regional campaigns focused on the independent bookstore and library markets.
- Oversee the creation of high-impact sales materials, gift catalogs, and conference presentations.
- Manage author events and travel coordination with a focus on author care.
- Direct planning and execution of seasonal sales conferences and industry trade shows.
- Foster and expand relationships with key B2B partners.
- Analyze and report on marketing effectiveness, campaign ROI, and budget adherence.
- Champion creative breakthroughs in design, language, and campaign development.
- Collaborate across departments to align marketing strategies with sales goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum 8 years of marketing experience, including 3+ years managing teams.
- Proven leadership in creative marketing, preferably within the publishing or media industries.
- Strong project management and budgeting skills; ability to evaluate ROI.
- Ability to develop strategic partnerships and navigate the independent book market.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative leadership style and strong mentoring ability.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
