Sourcebooks, one of publishing’s most innovative and fastest-growing houses, is seeking a creative and visionary Marketing Manager to elevate our Adult Nonfiction team. In this strategic role, you’ll architect high-impact, buzzworthy campaigns for bestselling authors, rising stars, and some of the most compelling voices across memoir, true crime, self-help, cookbooks, and beyond.

This position can be hybrid in Naperville or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. Occasional travel to trade shows, training opportunities, and author events is required.
This is an exempt, salaried position with a range of $70,000 - $85,000 We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.
What You’ll Own
- Lead Signature Campaigns: Develop, execute, and measure creative multi-channel marketing
& publicitystrategies for high-profile and emerging nonfiction titles. - Drive Discovery: Position titles for maximum impact—from pre-publication buzz to enduring sales—leveraging the full spectrum of media, influencer, digital, and retail channels.
- Partner with Talent: Serve as a strategic advisor to authors, agents, and brand partners; craft authentic pre-order campaigns, street teams, and digital content that grows audiences and deepens engagement.
- Event Leadership: Orchestrate author tours, bookstore launches, festival activations, and industry events—amplifying reach and relationships.
- Proven Industry Success: 3–6+ years of publishing marketing leadership (agency or in-house), ideally in adult nonfiction, with a track record of breakthrough campaigns and bestselling titles.
- Influence & Innovation: Mastery of influencer, media, and email marketing, plus hands-on experience with paid advertising and digital-first strategies.
- Project Management Excellence: Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-channel campaigns from concept to execution—balancing timelines, resources, cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver results on schedule and within budget.
- Storytelling Savvy: Exceptional writing, positioning, and brand storytelling skills—able to craft copy and messaging that command attention and drive action.
- Collaborative Leadership: A natural team player with an entrepreneurial drive, outstanding communication, and the ability to inspire stakeholders at all levels.
- Tech & Tools: Comfortable with Canva, Mailchimp (or equivalents); experience with Cision, Muck Rack, and analytics platforms is a plus.
- Education: BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, English, Publishing, or related field.
- Passion for Connection: Willingness to travel occasionally for major author events, tours, and industry conferences.
